The Ph.D. in Communications Media and Instructional Technology is designed to prepare professionals with a thorough grounding in the theoretical, cultural, and educational foundations of the discipline.
This will make our graduates ideally qualified for careers in higher education (university, college, and community college), media, government, K–12 education, business, and industry
The minor in Communication requires 18 credits, at least 6 at the 400 level.
Students should select these 18 credits in consultation with their academic advisor and the program chair in such a way as to complement their chosen major. Many Business Liberal Arts and Sciences (BLASC) majors select this minor as one of their three modules.
The minor serves as an excellent complement to majors in such as English and Political Science, as well as those in the School of Business such as Management Information Systems and Management.
Students develop a thorough understanding of behavioral theories and concepts that explain and predict human interaction in the workplace. In addition, particular emphasis is focused on the development of writing, speaking, marketing, interpersonal, team, and leadership skills that are necessary for careers in various communication fields in corporate settings such as corporate communication, public relations, integrated marketing communication, human resources, and advertising. Students also receive excellent preparation for graduate study in communication, law, business administration, and more.
