B.A Mass Communication cluster program offered by the AIOU for the first time in the country in 1988. The program consists of eight-credit course work covered by nine courses and is completed in two-year duration. The mode of teaching of this program is correspondence package including course books and allied material, forth-nightly tutorial, assignments, radio and television programs. The medium of instruction of the program is Urdu. A great number of students across the country are taking admission in the program. Enrollment in all the courses of this program is about 6000 per semester. The program is offered twice in
Group discussions, seminars, symposiums, debates and speech competitions are of and on arranged by the department, in order to develop and polish the communication skills of the future media practitioners of Pakistan. Similarly, renowned print and electronic media practitioners, experts of public relations and advertising, academicians and researchers of media studies, human rights activists and experts of certain media disciplines are frequently invited in the department for delivering extension, and thought provoking, lectures regarding the latest scenarios of various aspects of media development in the globe in general, and in Pakistan in particular.
