Q. Will I be a qualified counsellor?
A> No, but you will have knowledge and skills that will be useful in therapeutic settings.

The Programme

It is a major in Communication with a minor in Counselling. You can choose to apply directly for this programme or wait until after you take the Counselling-specific module in Semester Two, Year One. If you like it, you can go onto the programme from the start of second year. If you like the idea of waiting, then you must apply for BSc Hons Communication through UCAS. The counselling Year One module is an option on that programme.
What will you study?
Communication major:
You will study all aspects of communication; one to one communication, language and communication, communication within
You must satisfy the general entry requirements for admission to a first degree programme, and hold a GCSE pass in Mathematics and English Language at grade C or above, or equivalent.
A Level
A minimum of 260 Tariff Points to include grades BC
Irish Leaving Certificate
260 UCAS Tariff Points to include BBCCC at Honours Level including English Language and Maths. English & Maths may be at Ordinary Level.
Structure and Content
You will complete 6 modules every year -four in Communication and two in Counselling.

When you are there you can click on subjects, course diagrams and through to the module summaries. This will tell you what you can study with the subject.
You may be able to take advantage of various student exchange opportunities in your second year by studying abroad for one of the two semesters. For example, a number of our students
This unique course meets the needs of those who wish to follow a professional design career. It offers study in the fields of animation, graphic design, illustration, 3D, interactive and moving image design. The course is therefore structured to enable a broad awareness of the above, or a more specialist emphasis to study. Studies are always set in context, that is, the combination of aesthetic, social, and professional influences are considered together. Close links with industry are fostered and nurtured through live projects, guest designers and professional visits.
