The Broadcast Communications program is degree program jointly offered by Hudson Valley Community College and The New School of Radio and Television in Albany, New York. This program is designed to provide students with the academic background and the professional experience appropriate for employment or for possible transfer to a four-year institution. Students complete 30-32 credits at Hudson Valley Community College and must attain a 2.0 GPA prior to attending The New School of Radio and Television. Students may transfer no more than six credits from other institutions in fulfillment of the Hudson Valley Community College course requirements. Students register
Internship Opportunities Hudson Valley Community College and the New School of Radio and Television have excellent relationships with the broadcast communications community. Internships are possible at television and radio stations in and around the capital district as well as in many major cities. Where possible, graduates are placed in the internship of their choice and are assisted with the preparation and compilation of final demo reels. In addition, job placement counseling is extensive at both Hudson Valley Community College and The New School of Radio and Television.
Major assessment: Senior Mass Communication majors will assemble a portfolio of their clippings from The Delta, Sabiduria, radio and television tapes and scripts, and samples of their work completed during their internships. The portfolio will be assembled in conjunction with MC 480, Writing for Broadcast. Mass Communication Seniors must also take an in-house exam. Introduction to Mass Communication - 3 hours. The Mass Communication program at Illinois State University offers students the opportunity to study the developing communication of the 21 st Century.
