Fees for 2009: AUD$18,000 total program cost.
Program fees may vary according to the courses chosen and fees are invoiced on a semester basis. RMIT reserves the right to adjust fees on an annual basis but no fee increase will exceed the annual increase cap of 7.5%.
Fee Paying Places (FPP)
Programs by coursework are offered on a Fee Paying Places (FPP) basis. FPP students are required to pay the complete cost of their program. FPP fees vary according to each program.
The prices quoted are total program prices for 2009. Tuition fees are subject to annual adjustment and are not fixed for the duration of your study. Changes to fees are applied from 1 January each year.
FEE-Higher Education Loan Program (FEE-HELP)
Students offered an FPP may be eligible for the FEE-HELP (FEE-Higher Education Loan Program) scheme, which enables eligible fee-paying students to obtain an interest-free loan from the Commonwealth Government to pay all or part of their tuition fees. In 2008, the FEE-HELP limit was $81,600. This amount is indexed each year.
Postgraduate Commonwealth Supported Equity Places
RMIT has a limited number of government-subsidised CSP in postgraduate coursework programs for applicants who meet entrance and equity criteria. Instead of paying full fees, either up-front or with a FEE-HELP loan, the CSP Equity place allows students to complete their program with a choice of up-front, partial up-front or deferred payment options.

Applicants wanting to enter the Master of Communication (Journalism) but not holding the Graduate Diploma in Journalism must meet the entrance requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Journalism.
Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Journalism in the past five years. Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Journalism from before 2004 will need to demonstrate relevant, up-to-date industry experience.
Applicants with at least 10 years’ relevant industry experience as a journalist who are not graduates of RMIT's Graduate Diploma in Journalism or those who have completed industry-related graduate diplomas at other universities will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Master of Communication provides a unique combination of theoretical communication studies, professional training and research. Courses are offered in the areas of communication theory and practice, cinema, journalism, public relations, editing, cultural studies and new media.
Applicants wishing to specialise in journalism, public relations or editing and publishing may consider applying for a place in the appropriate Graduate Diploma.
