The study of this subject will allow you to explore communication at the macro level in industry, education or the media and at the micro levels of individuals working in teams or engaging in other small group activity. Broad areas of study on the course might include interpersonal communication and relationships, social and cultural communication and language as a communicative resource.
Modules available to minor students include: Principles of Communication; Interpersonal Communication 1&2; Communication in Groups; Organisational Communication; Interpersonal Communication; and The Training Context.

We all communicate. Effective communication is the basis for success in all walks of life. The study of this subject will allow you to explore communication at the macro level in industry, education or the media and at the micro levels of individuals working in teams or engaging in other small group activity. Broad areas of study on the course might include interpersonal communication and relationships, social and cultural communication and language as a communicative resource.
This unique course meets the needs of those who wish to follow a professional design career. It offers study in the fields of animation, graphic design, illustration, 3D, interactive and moving image design. The course is therefore structured to enable a broad awareness of the above, or a more specialist emphasis to study. Studies are always set in context, that is, the combination of aesthetic, social, and professional influences are considered together. Close links with industry are fostered and nurtured through live projects, guest designers and professional visits.

The course is modular with six modules of study in each year. There is an optional placement year between Years 2 and 3. Students who take this option will have gained an extra qualification, the Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS) or the Diploma in Area Studies (DAS) upon completion of studies. In the recent past students have been placed in Ireland, Britain, Germany, America and Australia.
Whilst studying on the course in Year 1, you will undertake a series of prescribed projects exploring core aspects of design practice and theory with modules in drawing, image making, 3D and typography. Year 2
You will study all aspects of communication, one to one communication, language and communication, communication within and between different social groups, mass communication and communication research. In addition students have the opportunity to select specialist areas of communication such as communication in relationships, health related communication, organisational and business communication. The degree is continuously developing and adding new areas of study reflecting the dynamic nature of the area of communication.
